For project two, I worked with a partner to create a short film. Entitled "The Defense", the film is about domestic abuse and the inner workings of a domestic abuse court case. In the movie, an abusive girlfriend attempts to control many aspects of her boyfriend's personal and professional life. Eventually, the boyfriend calls the police and takes the issue to court.
Social Studies The social studies aspect of our project was the court case, and because our class is Self in the Modern World we wanted to portray how the boyfriend's personality and point of view played a role in the scenario. We expressed this by making the movie first person point of view, so that the viewer steps into the main character's shoes when they watch it. We also included different kinds of symbolism, such as color--each character wears colors that symbolize different personality traits.

English IV For English, we wrote a script. We wrote dialogue, but a large part of our grade was stage direction and description of scenes. These are essential components to the script because without them it would be difficult for the reader to visualize the different scenes. A slideshow with pictures of stage directions in our script can be found below. There was a lot of research involved in writing the script, not only on script writing but on court cases and domestic abuse, as well.
Portfolio The movie itself was our art portion. Making the movie included using a professional video camera, props and costumes, and finding places to film it. These are all new skills to me that I thought were fairly simple to start, but later realized would be a learning experience. For example, factors like lighting, ambient noise, and acoustics were things I never really had to take into consideration during a project before, but they are all very important when filming a video.
